Biarritz. France.

Biarritz.

Another two hour train ride from Bordeaux and you’ll be in Biarritz. As soon as we arrived at our AirBnb, dropped our bags, and started walking around the town, I was instantly in love. Such an amazing beach town!

Biarritz is a world famous surf town and where the Roxy Pro Surf Competition is held every year. Biarritz quickly became my favorite French town so far! Beautiful gardens with giant pink and purple flowers. Walk along the coast boardwalk and you’ll find hidden beaches everywhere!

Not to mention gorgeous sunsets! [Tip: Head out to the point to capture the beauty]

At this point in our trip, we were suffering from major travel fatigue. We knew it was time to have no plans and just relax, which is exactly what we did. Four days in Biarritz was magical.

Relax, sunbathe, read, rinse, repeat.

We cooked a lot in our apartment and tried to create a normal routine for those few days. I’ve found this is very important when traveling long term. As soon as you get burnt out, you’ll want to go home. It’s healthy and so important to slow down, and just live for a bit. Biarritz was the perfect town to do this because there isn’t THAT much to see/do here other than the beach, so we didn’t feel pressure to rush out and sightsee. It was perfect.

Taking in the sights during my morning runs…

Bucket List:

  • Sunbathe topless! (Sorry mom and dad!)… When in France 🙂

Next Time:

  • Surf
  • Sunset Picnic on the beach
  • 100 Marches

Pro:

  • Perfect beach town with nice shops. Felt like home!
  • Sand doesn’t stick. Brushes right off.
  • Find the hidden beach in between the two main beaches. Great place to swim and jump off the built-in diving rock. (Tip: just watch out for the tide, it comes up fast and gets you soaked)

Con:

  • Noting else to do besides beach time, shop, and surf. But we needed that downtime.

Tip:

  • Book Airbnb early. There are some amazing places for super cheap in the center of town, but if you book late they’ll be gone. Kinda takes the spontaneity out of traveling and not the way we like to travel, but it’s worth it to plan ahead a little for this gem.
  • Grab sandwiches and beer (and water) on the way to the beach. Also, make sure you buy an umbrella. Cheap ones can be found at the local shops, and it’s worth it!
