Her Packing List:
Bag:
All of the below fit comfortably in my Osprey Porter 46 liter pack. I packed, unpacked, and repacked about 5 times before I actually left. This helped me narrow down exactly what I needed.
Packing Essentials:
Packing cubes are a life saver! I got the REI cube sets and was able to fit all of my socks in one small size, underwear, bras, and bathing suits in another small cube, one large cube for tops and one large cube for bottoms. These seriously made all the difference, especially coming from a girl who has never traveled with only a carry-on in her life, this is a HUGE accomplishment and even I’m, quit honestly, surprised I was able to make it happen.
Clothing:
Tops:
- 3 Lulu Lemon tank tops (easy to dress up or down!)
- 2 Nike Dri-Fit tops
- 2 Roxy tops
- 1 Lulu Lemon long sleeve shirt
- 1 Sweater
- 1 Hurley Hoodie
- 1 Nike rain jacket
- 1 Patagonia puffy jacket (gotta be prepared for Machu Picchu!)
Bottoms:
- 1 Lulu Lemon capris
- 1 pair of Lulu Lemon shorts
- 1 Nike Joggers
- 1 pair of jean pants
- 2 pairs of shorts
- 2 skirts
- 2 sundresses
Accessories:
- 2 hats (added string so I can attach to my bag when I don’t want to wear it)
- 2 scarves (helps to keep outfits versatile)
- Watch (I’m a huge Michael Kors fan when it comes to watches, but for this trip, I bought a fun, cheap watch from Luvvi9 to travel with. I won’t be bringing any nice jewelry that I don’t want to lose.)
- Two necklaces
- Earrings
Misc:
- 2 bathing suits (Tip: mix & match tops and bottoms so you have more options!)
- 6 pairs of Stance socks (The no-show socks are my new fav!)
- 10 pairs of underwear
- 1 quick dry towel from REI
- 2 locks for my bags
- Chargers
- iPad
- Laptop
- Life-proof Apple Case
- Deet 20-50% (less than 20% doesn’t protect you, more than 50% is dangerous to you)
Shoes:
- 1 Nike Internationalist for hiking (most comfortable and amazing shoe; great traction)
- 1 Nike Racer running shoes
- 1 Havianas
- 1 Toms
Cosmetics:
[To be honest, I was only going to bring mascara and lip gloss. Then I spoke with a friend who recently traveled long-term and she said she wore more make-up traveling than she does at home because you’re taking so many pictures and want to look good! I never thought of that 🙂 So here is a list of my make-up essentials:]
- Too Faced Better than Sex mascara (Best. Mascara. Ever.)
- Too Faced Bronzer (small and compactable)
- Clique foundation; BB cream
- Neutrogena moisturizer + SPF 30
Toiletries:
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrush
- Hair Brush
- Nail clippers
- Tweezers
- Kangaroo Chapstick
- Dry Shampoo
- Razor
Medications:
- 3 months supply Malaria pills (these were expensive, so we’re splitting the first 6 month supply and will buy additional as needed on the road)
- Traveler’s diarrhea antibiotic
- Antiseptic cream
- Ambien
- Birth controls pills
And there you have it… Around the world in a carry-on!
