The Cotswolds. England.

Cotswolds Weekend Getaway.

We took a weekend trip to The Cotswolds with our dear friends, Dougal and Sophie, and it was absolutely perfect. We had thoughts about flying somewhere tropical for a little getaway, but with it being a long weekend, everything was expensive and booked so we decided to keep it local. We jumped on a train to Oxford, rented a car and drove through the English countryside for two days. It was so picturesque and the perfect way to experience England. I highly recommend a trip out here if you have the time.

Day 1.

Lunch in Tiverton at the Trout Inn. IMG_0923 IMG_0918 copy

Bourton on the Water – Ice cream stop at Bourton on the Water – When the weather is nice, everyone takes advantage of it, on the water’s edge having a picnic.

Upper and Lower Slaughter – The most picturesque English town. So green and quaint, with cobblestone roads, stone houses, and perfect gardens, complete with sheep, lamb, and horses.

Cheltenham – Big town, with not much going on. We stayed the night here, but I would suggest staying elsewhere.

Day 2.

Stow-in-the-Wold – Traditional English breakfast complete with English breakfast tea at Treebus Tea House 🙂 Stow is the highest settlement in the Cotswolds.

Drove through Moreton on the Marsh and Bourton on the Hill to explore more. IMG_1013 IMG_1014 IMG_1021 IMG_1025 IMG_4139 IMG_4144

Horse back riding in Stanton at Jill Carenza Equestrian.

Stayed at Twynings Manor in Twyning with dinner and drinks down by the river. Great weather, great friends, Pimm’s, and mini-golf always makes for a perfect afternoon!

Day 3.

Gloucester – Toured around Gloucester Cathedral. This is a must see and the oldest cathedral in the Cotswolds. FUN FACT: For Harry Potter fans, you’ll recognize scenes from the movie as being filmed inside the Cathedral.
